Introspect is a mixed reality music experience with live performer which we have developed with the support of MyWorld's challenge two call. It features the amazing vocals of Sian Cross performing live amongst an audience of 10 all wearing mixed reality headsets.
It is an exploration of a new medium for music performance which uses XR technology to deliver enhanced immersive visuals and audience interaction. We also take advantage of headset sensing technology to use the audience position and interaction to influence show visuals.
We see this new medium as a new route to further connecting the audience and performer in real time. At a time where algorithms are picking our play lists, and we no longer buy physical music items with booklets, artwork and collectables, there is a void forming between the artists and fans. By being part of an XR audience and collectively contributing to the show visuals you are collaborating with the artist in real time.
At the end of the MyWorld challenge call we have presented this to Bristol Tech Fest and hosted a series of shows at Invisible Circus's Loco Klub to audiences of up to 10 people. Over the coming months we will be looking to expanding this audience size and show length to offer more shows to more people.
