Powderham Castle, Devon — April 2026

Moving beyond simple QR codes, this trail uses artistic sculptures to trigger high-fidelity AR content, seamlessly blending the castle's history and natural grounds with creative technology.
We worked closely with street artist Jamel to design 8 physical sculptures, and one additional hidden spawn location. The work reflects Jamel's artist style and background, using a recyled materials where possible. The sculptures provide an extra layer of discovery as you have to open, peer through and explore their form to find the AR marker.
Encouraging visitors to explore deeper into the grounds of Powderham Castle, and explore the story of pollination. Pollination is a crucial for the environment and many plants and creatures partipate in the process. This AR application showcases some of these creatures along with educational information all alongside an exciting treasure hunt to unlock the final stage.
Our aim to introduce the castle audiences of all ages to the story of pollination. This is both an educational and entertainment tool. It creates a new story to tell for Powderham, and a new world for the audience to immersive themselves in.

Physical interaction is one of the most powerful ways we learn. When visitors reach out, peer through, and explore a sculptural form with their hands and eyes, they forge a connection that a screen alone cannot replicate. Play and exploration transform passive observers into active participants — curiosity drives them forward, and every discovery feels earned.
